Experience with a Fresh Twist

As you may or may not have known, the Rieger family has been active in the Norman real estate business since the 1930s. Today, whether you’re selling or looking to plant roots, you can count on Dana’s team to present you with a world of options. We recently had the chance to sit down with Dana and discuss her experiences in real estate investing and management. Check out what she had to say below about Oklahoma’s property landscape!

On real estate investing

Dana considers one the greatest aspects of real estate investment is that it naturally appreciates in value over time. In addition to this, the expenses, interest payments, maintenance and repairs can be deducted when considering taxes. Property improvements can also be counted as depreciation deductions.

On being a landlord

Dana’s husband’s family has a rich history in real estate. Naturally, it was a perfect fit for them to grow along with that industry. The Rieger family manages properties themselves in addition to working as property managers for others.

On property value

Dana shared that location is a crucial aspect to finding great property. Whether it’s a good school district for a family or access to an interstate for a commuter, the property itself is the second consideration. It’s better to have an older property in a fantastic location than a new one in a less than desirable location.

On the rewards

“Overall,” Dana shared, “There’s always risk in any investment. But with care and diligence, real estate is a fairly safe bet and in the long-term, an outstanding investment.”

Owning tangible assets that naturally appreciate and grow in value over time can truly be rewarding. To stay up-to-date with all things Rieger Realty, be sure to follow us on social media or to give us a call at (405) 310–2796 with any questions.
